CNA Legislative Activities LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Medicaid Cuts: JBC met March 16th to set numbers for the Medicaid budget for next year. Accepted 1% across the board cuts for all health care providers and did NOT cut APNs and physicians assistants an additional 10%. CNA supports. HB 1024, 1025, and 1122 – All concerning the Colorado Medical Treatment Act and end of life decisions have made it into the Senate. CNA supports 1025 and 1122. HB 1229 – Concerning authentication requirements for verbal orders in a hospital. Changes requirements for provider signatures on verbal orders from current 48 hour limit to 30 day limit. Developed by Colorado Hospital Association at request of rural hospitals. CNA supports. SB 124 – Skolnik Transparency Act adding multiple healthcare providers including all licensed practical nurses, registered professional nurses, and advanced practice nurses to current legislation that only applies to physicians. Passed out of Senate on March 26. CNA supports. SB 126 – Concerning increased transparency reporting requirements for certain pharmaceutical manufacturers. Remains in Senate sub-committees. CNA supports. SB 170 – Concerning Continuity of care for patients served by limited services clinics located in retail outlets postponed indefinitely in House Health and Human Services Committee on March 25th. Voting no to this legislation were Representatives Riesberg, Gagliardi, Kefalas, Acree, Gerou, Kerr, Roberts, and Swalm. Please send them thank you e-mails for opposing this bill! SB 176 - Has been assigned to the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee after a smooth passage through the Senate.

CNAHCA has prepared a document that describes each of the Health Care Delivery Models, its proponents, and its limitations. Also in the "Scenarios for Change" document, several approaches to reform have been described.
