We welcome all applications for continuing nursing education activities.  The application may be for a single education activity or for full provider activities.

Directions for Completion:

The forms must be downloaded and saved onto your computer, then they can be typed on.  If you have difficulty saving the documents, right click on the title of the document and "Save Target as" - then you can save it to your computer files and work on it.

Single Education Activity:


An individually approved continuing education activity that is planned, implemented and approved for a single event.  Delivery format may include live events, printed materials or independent study.

 

DUE DATES: 

Renewal applications must be received 2 months prior to the providers expiration date,.  An extension of two months can be requested; this must also be received 2 months prior to the providers expiration date.  The extension fee is $150 per month, and must be pre-approved.

 

A complete application must be received 3 months before the event is to be given.  For example, materials for a September 3 program must be received by the beginning of June to allow the Approval Unit time to review the documentation and request further clarification, if required.

 

FEES: 

The cost is $350 for up to 10 contact hours.  For each hour over ten, please add $25 per contact hour.  The total fee is determined by the maximum number of contact hours a single person could receive for the event.  Expedited reviews will cost an additional $150, and must be pre-approved.

If nursing contact hours exceed 20 hours for a single activity,

 an additional cost may be required.

Full Provider Activites:

 

An approved provider may be a business, institution, organization or agency responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, financing, record keeping and quality of nursing education activities.  An approved provider may offer an unlimited number of educational programs during its three-year approval period.  They must have provided 3 programs that have met CNA / ANCC criteria and have been in business at least six months.

PLEASE REVIEW ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA CAREFULLY!

 

Eligibility Criteria:

An organization, business, group or facility qualified to submit individual CE applications for approval can apply to become an approved provider unit by meeting the criteria listed here:

C        The provider must offer at least three approved activities and summary of evaluations.

C        The provider must be administratively and operationally responsible for coordinating all aspects of the CNE activities provided by the organization. 

C        A provider unit must be either:

F      A single-focused organization devoted to offering continuing nursing education, or

F      A distinct, separately identified unit within a complex, multi-focused organization; for example the provider unit may be a CE division, a staff development department, or a nursing education committee within a larger organization.

C        Provider units within complex organizations must demonstrate their autonomy for providing CNE in the written documentation they submit.

C        INELIGIBLE GROUPS INCLUDE:

N        Organizations targeting more than 50% of their educational activities provided in the previous calendar year to nurses in multiple DHHS regions.

N        A commercial interest.

C        The provider unit must have been  operational a minimum of 6 months.

CNA Presentation to Providers on 
November 20,2009

On November 20, 2009 CNA hosted an education session for our providers of continuing nursing education programs.  Several providers and education contacts were not able to attend the session.  Therefore, an example of the new 2010 Full Provider Application is provided and should be used for reference during the second PowerPoint presentation.
